Step 1: Meet Basic Requirements
First, you must meet the minimum age requirement. You must be at least 16 years old. Secondly, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is preferred. Finally, you must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
Step 2: Register as an Apprentice in a Recognized Trade
In Ontario, HVAC technicians are typically classified under:
313A – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
313D – Residential (Air Conditioning) Systems Mechanic
Or related: Gas Technician (G2 or G3) certification is also essential
